Building Your Team
Building a team can be challenging if you don't have a large group of running friends. However, even if you do have an already made team, keep reading because some of these ideas may come in handy to find replacements if you lose a runner or two leading up to the race.
You might say 'This race sounds awesome, but can I really get 11 other people (or 5 for the Colonial70) to sign-up with me?' The answer is YES. In fact, the approach we are about to share has been used successfully by us multiple times. One of the greatest things about this approach is that your team will be made up of a few individuals who you know, but also likely some new friends that will soon become old friends over the course of the relay experience.
- Find at least 3 - 4 runners to commit to the relay quest
- Share with them that you really want them on your team, but they must agree to ask at least 2 - 3 other runners to join in too
- Clearly not everyone will say yes, but the power of networking really does work
- Then each new runner repeats this process until you have your team
