Palmetto Race Group, LLC was started by two guys from South Carolina who love to run and love the experience that is racing - especially team endurance racing. After running in relays in Oregon and North Carolina we thought it would be great to bring one to our backyard. So, in 2010 we had the inaugural Palmetto200 Relay which ran from Columbia, SC, to Charleston, SC.
After the fun and success we had with the first two years of the Palmetto200 Relay, we wanted to bring this type of event to more people. We have ties to the Virginia area (Virginia Tech graduate and lived in Richmond) and the Alabama area (Auburn graduate and family in Birmingham) so those seemed like the right places to start. We ran the inaugural Colonial200 Relay in Virgina in 2011 and began planning for the Dixie200 Relay in Georgia/Alabama to be run in 2012.
Between the two of us we have competed in dozens of marathons, half marathons, multi-day relays, sprint triathlons, mud runs and cycling events in Oregon, California, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Delaware and Singapore . We can't wait for more adventures.
We think that endurance relays are great at bringing the team sport mentality and camaraderie to the traditionally solo sport of running. We are passionate about passing this excitement and experience on to other runners.
